MARKETING

By implementing the below strategies, an independent American film shot in Taiwan can generate interest and awareness among potential audiences, distributors, and industry professionals, leading to greater exposure and potential success for the project.
General
1. Trailer Launch

Create an engaging trailer for the film that highlights its unique selling points, such as the Taiwanese setting, the story, and any well-known actors or crew members involved in the project. The trailer should be distributed on social media, movie websites, and other relevant platforms to generate interest in the film.

2. Film Festival Circuit

We will submit the film to major film festivals, both in the United States and internationally. Winning awards or generating buzz at festivals can help generate positive word-of-mouth and attract attention from distributors and potential audiences.

3. Social Media Campaign

Utilize social media to build buzz around the film. Use platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to share behind-the-scenes photos and videos, promote festival screenings, and engage with fans and followers.

4. Targeted Advertising

We’ll use targeted advertising on social media and other platforms to reach potential audiences who may be interested in the film. Targeting options could include age, gender, location, interests, and movie-watching behavior.

5. Collaborations and Partnerships

We plan to partner with organizations or brands that align with the themes or message of the film. For example, such as women’s issues, depression, anxiety, dealing with loss; to promote the film and build awareness around the issue.

6. Press Outreach

We’ll reach out to press outlets, both traditional and online, to secure reviews, interviews, and other coverage for the film. This can help build credibility and generate buzz around the film.

USA

There are several reasons why an American film shot in Taiwan could be successful in the United States; possible factors:
1. Unique Setting

The film's setting in Taiwan could be a unique selling point for audiences in the United States. Taiwan is not a frequently featured location in American films, so a film shot in Taiwan could offer a fresh and unique perspective for audiences.

2. Cultural Perspective

A film shot in Taiwan could offer a unique cultural perspective that may resonate with American audiences. If the film portrays Taiwanese culture in an authentic and respectful way, it could potentially attract interest from audiences interested in foreign cultures and perspectives.

3. International Appeal

With the growing popularity of international cinema in the United States, a film shot in Taiwan could potentially find a niche audience among fans of foreign films. This could be further enhanced if the film features well-known Taiwanese actors or incorporates aspects of Taiwanese culture that are popular internationally.

4. Low Budget

American independent films shot in foreign countries often have lower production costs compared to films shot in the United States. This could potentially make the film more financially viable and attractive to independent film distributors and audiences.

5. Film Festival Circuit

American independent films shot in foreign countries often find success on the film festival circuit. If the film is well-received at international film festivals, it could potentially generate buzz and attention that could lead to wider distribution and exposure in the United States.

Benefits for Taiwan

Promote a positive image of the country
1. Taiwan’s international reputation

This movie is an excellent opportunity to enhance Taiwan’s reputation; think of Crazy Rich Asians (2018). The movie was shot in locations in Singapore. It impressed the audience with its beautiful scenery. Another example is Netflix’s A Tourist’s Guide to Love (2023). This movie is shot in Vietnam. Films can reach out broader audience. We plan to submit the movie to international film festivals, a great way to promote Taiwan. With the fantastic landscape and unique city scenes of Taiwan as the backdrop of Gan Bei, it certainly will attract foreign tourists to visit Taiwan.

2. Cultural influences

Taiwan has a unique culture. It preserves traditional Chinese culture, yet at the same time, synchronizes with modern trends. Through this movie's lens, the audience will learn more about Taiwan, in terms of arts, fashion, architecture, etc. Taiwan has a pool of talents, we are eager to work with Taiwanese designers and artists.

3. Help to promote Taiwan’s products and brands

Taiwan has the award-winning whiskey Kavalan. Taiwan makes the best bicycles in the world. Taiwan has delicious bubble tea, famous pineapple pies and signature Taiwanese food. There are many more. “Product replacement” is a great way to promote excellent Taiwanese products. We will provide up to five spots in our movie Gan Bei to promote Taiwan’s products and brands.

4. Provide opportunities for the Taiwan movie industry

The film is about Taiwan and Taiwan people. We’re not only shooting the film in Taiwan, we want to use Taiwanese actors and actresses to portray the characters in the story. The US-TAIWAN coproduction model and our international marketing strategies will shine a light on the Taiwan film industry and help promote Taiwan actors and actresses internationally.
